| October 2010 | Storage: We are short
of storage space with increasing Group external activities. A Planning
application has been submitted to Staffordshire Moorlands District Council
for a large storage shed to be sited next to the existing cabin. This is to
be used to store wet weather equipment and gear, and act a s a drying room
for equipment we bring back from activities and camps wet. This will
free up space in our undercroft for dry camp equipment and gear which we
need to store better (and wet gear can damage this). The new shed will also have a larger hard standing to provide suitable space for us to do outdoor scouting and guiding activities. |

November 2007 |
The Annual Bonfire: Our annual Bonfire this
year held on 3 November was again a great success, with a maximum capacity
crowd. The fireworks were bigger and more spectacular than ever - thanks to
the wonderful display team who carefully plan what goes off when. Food sold
out. The glowsticks tent had a few additions with this year light torches a
la 'star wars' on offer which went down especially well with the youngsters.
All proceeds from the event are donated to Stockton Brook Scout and Guide Association, and help with the running costs of our headquarters and to keep everyone's subs costs down. So your support, attendance and donations are much appreciated. |

80th Birthday Celebration: Stockton Brook celebrated 80
Years of Scouting at Stockton Brook HQ with a Group Camp weekend at the
Headquarters which many members attended.
The camp took place from a Friday to Sunday at the beginning of June. We could not have been more blessed with the weather. Cubs, Scouts, Explorers and Leaders camped in tents on the Field. Beavers and Guides camped out overnight in the HQ (separate rooms of course) and the Rainbows and Brownies visited on Saturday and Sunday. We had games around the 80's theme, 80 handshakes, 80 signatures, 80 skips, 80 hops etc; a Treasure hunt; Kayaking, Canoeing and Raft building on the canal; an Its a knockout competition - with lots of water of course; a Bouncy Assault course - was great fun !!!; and of course we had to have a Camp Fire with singing, more singing, cheers, rounds and toasted marshmallows to finish off the fun. The weather was so great that we all got to eat outside - breakfast dinner and tea for the entire weekend, lots and lots of food all cooked by our excellent camp cooks. |
