Barnswood Camp
The Division Guide camp in 2008 was held at Barnswood Scout Camp , Rudyard from 11 to 13 July

The cost of this camp was £30.
A £10 non refundable deposit has already been paid, the final balance of £20 is due by Thursday 19 June 2008.

Guides will be working to obtain their Adventure Out badge and Advanced Camper Badge during this weekend.

Activities planned are:- Star Gazing, Sculptures, Backwoods Cooking, Team Games, Pioneering, Camp Fire, Trails and Trekking, Bird Boxes

A Parents Meeting for Guides and Parents will to discuss arrangements for the camp will take place on Thursday July 3rd, at the start of our normal Guide Meeting.

 

 

Parents meeting: A parents meeting for all those whose girls are attending this camp will take place at 8.45pm on Thursday 11 September. This meeting will give parents and girls info about the programme of activities, menu, travel arrangements, chance to discuss car sharing, and dish out equipment, All parents will be expected to take or bring back some of the equipment we need to take to camp. Without this we would have to build  van hire into the cost of the camp.

Parental consent forms have been handed out to Guides - a further copy of these is downloadable from this website. Girls must have returned a signed consent form to the Leaders before they go to this event.

Health Forms are  downloadable from this website. Please could parents/girls bring filled in copy to the parents meeting. Spare copies will be available at the meeting for anyone. Girls must have returned a form before they attend the site.

Kibblestone

Washing

  • Towel

  •  Wash Bag

  •   Soap - if you also use facial wipes etc please find a bin  to dispose of them

  •   Shampoo and Conditioner

  •  Toothpaste and brush

  •  Deodorant   (Roll on or Body spray – not aerosol)

  •   Moisturiser

  •  Hair brush and bands

  •  Sanitary items

  • Any medicinal items (dangerous items need to be handed to First Aider for safe keeping)

Clothes

  • Uniform

  • T shirt’s and long sleeved shirt’s  (several changes needed)

  • Long trousers

  • Jumper/Fleece : Sweatshirt or good jumper – we are outdoors

  • Footwear:    Trainers, walking boots/suitable shoes

  • Wellies:      if its wet

  • Indoor Footwear: (flip flops or backless sandles – for walking on taurpaulin)

  • Underwear   per day plus one

  • Socks:        per day inc Walking socks

  • Waterproofs : (waterproof/ waterproof trousers if weather forecast not good )

  • Nightwear:   To suit weather: (warm ie top and trouser type)

Eating

  • Drawstring Bag containing

  • Bowl

  • Plate

  • Knife, Fork, Spoon and teaspoon  

  • Mug (not china)

  • 2no Tea towels

Sleeping

  • Sleeping Bag    

  • Camp blanket    (Extra blanket if weather forecast not good)

  • Thin tarpaulin     or groundsheet, (B&Q budget £3.99), or large plastic rubble sack

  • Pillow    inc case (or blow up pillow)

Other

  • Rucksack, Holdal or Large Storage box with a sealable lid  - no suitcases

  • Torch    with working batteries

  • Disposable camera

  • Camp folding Chair   - for meals  (check how many do not have )

  • Bum bag           or use zipped pockets, no handbags please (or guide bag)

  • Plastic box: with Swaps, if the girls are interested in this

  • Plastic box: Any sweets or food to be in sealed plastic box with Guides name on

  • Drinks bottle      for squash to be refilled during weekend

  • Small plastic bags several – pack clothes and shoes in them

Money

£5 maximum    

No Electronic equipment

  • Mobile phones may be brought for emergency only.

  • No other small electrical items such as iPods, Game boys, DS

  •  Please note Guiding Insurance DOES NOT cover phones or other electrical items
