The aim of this camp is to experience our beautiful Countryside and there is no where better than Gradbach, a beautiful valley setting in partial woodland on the banks of two rivers, close to the Roaches. Camping with friends in great surroundings.

Summer Camp: Gradbach
17, 18 and 19 July 2009

We are holding our Summer Camp at Gradbach this year. We had thought about going further a field, but with the recession we decided to stay close to keep costs down. HQ to camp is 14 miles (27 mins)

The camp will also be attended by Endon Guides, and our Scouts. Details have been planned, activities discussed based around Camp Out Go For It, booking is now confirmed, we are finalising our plans and participant numbers.

Thurs 16 July Parents Meeting : We will hold a Parents Meeting on Thursday night, (the day before camp to talk through programme, kit lists, menu, travel arrangements (car sharing) and equipment. 8.45pm at end normal Guide meeting

The camp has been planned this weekend as it is the Day the Girls break up from school for the Summer Holidays

Members will do Duties assigned to Tent Groups

Friday: 17th

PROGRAMME IS DRAFT

Camp Out go For It  

5.30-6.00

pm

Arrival & Set up camp: Warden has offered use of Tractor to (pull trailer) move our Tent and Camping Equipment up the field.
It is suggested that Parents drop Girls off with their kit in the gate of the campsite, turn around in the gate,  and take car down to car park down the road from the camp site, as the Driveway up to Scout Camp Site is NOT suitable for a massive amount of family cars and there is little room to turn around.  Parents to leave at 6pm and leave us to it.

6.00   Pitch tents: Girls will be expected to work in Groups to pitch their own tents, they will be taught how to do this if they have not camped with us before.

Camp Opening Ceremony. Girls must arrive in Camp in Uniform. We have a flag pole on our Camp site and so will be holding a formal opening ceremony. Girls will be allowed to change into Outdoor wear after this ceremony for the first evening activity.

8.00 am Rise and ablutions, dress in gear suitable for weather and walking    
8.30   Breakfast : (greenways Girls to join us for Breakfast or by 9.30 max)    
10.00  till 1.00 Activity One: Walk  through Gradbach woods, taking in Castle Rock, Ludds Church,
(possibly Fish Farm - think this may be too far) 		Bev, Jo  and Cathy - did a Recky walk May 17th - we will take left fork over the Bridge and walk in Clockwise direction  - History and questions on the way, Drinks and snack on Castle Rock  - Bev and Steve to Lead walk
1.00 pm Picnic Lunch  
2.00 to 3.00   Activity Two : Make our Ideal Camp Site Cathy
4.00 to 5.00   Activity Two : Wide Game Bev and Kayla (other Leaders to assist with treasure whilst Cathy runs 1)
5.00pm   Backwoods Cooking, Meal Prep All Leaders to supervise, Fire pits and Alter Fire's  
6.00 pm Cook Tea, (Girls will have selected menu and cooking method in weeks before camp as part of Camp Out go For it )  
9.00 pm Camp  fire, Songs and Camp Fire Food (as Desert - Apples, Bananas, Marshmallows, Jelly, SoMore's & Popcorn all cooked the Backwoods way ) ALL
11.00 pm Off to Bed    
Sunday 19th      
8.30   Rise and ablutions    
9.00   Duties, Wash Up, Tidy Up and Part Strike camp, plus prep for lunch done in Groups    
10.00 to
11.00 		  Activity Three: Pioneering Building a Bridge Across the Stream / Lifting Water and transfer lower to higher level Activity One and Two will be done in Groups and will Swap after the hour 
12.00 to 1.00   Activity Four:   
1.00   Groups to assist with Final preparation for lunch    
1.30   Lunch    
2.00 to 3.00   Activity Five: Orienteering Trail in the Woods or AN Other  ie Stream dip weather dependant    
3.00   Final Strike Camp and move kit down to HQ and Car park Area ready for pick up    
3.45 pm Closing Ceremony : then walk down to Car Park    
4.00   Parents to pick us up.  Do we have to go home ??!"!!. Parents to park in the main car park and walk up Hill, to Camp car park, we will have transferred kit to this point by then, so no need to parents to come up field. No one to go home before 4pm and all kit struck and packed away
