Subscriptions

Guiding costs money. .............

The Leaders do their best to offer quality Guiding for the lowest possible cost. The main source of income for the Group is the Membership Subscription paid by all members.

Subs are currently paid on a monthly basis and are £10 per month.

  • £5 is handed to Group Council as Membership: this cover the costs of water, heating, lighting, maintenance etc.
  • £5 is kept by the unit as Subs: and goes to meeting the cost of running the Guide Programme. This also includes your daughters membership to Girlguiding UK and annual insurance. (£17 a year - as of Jan 2010 )

Please make sure that subs are paid promptly :-

  • on the first Thursday of each calendar month. This helps with cash flow and the planning of activities.
  • If Guides are owing a months subs at the start of the next calendar month your Daughter will be asked to telephone you to collect her - no subs no Guides, if subs are still outstanding the following week we will offer her place to the next Guide on our waiting list.
  • if your daughter does not attend Guides for four calendar weeks (without your first telling us that she is absent because of extended holiday or medical reasons) we will assume that she no longer wishes to attend and offer her place to the next girl on our waiting list.

Trips, external Activities and Camps
From time to time, we may ask for a money for activities undertaken over and above the 'normal' meetings, such as external activities, training, excursions, camps and trips . We hope parents appreciate the need for this to help meet additional costs of activities.

Fundraising

Every year the Group (Stockton Brook Scot and Guide Group Council) also fundraise, this fundraising helps keep the cost of membership down; we :-

  • Hold an annual bonfire at the HQ
  • As a registered charity we annually claim back Gift Aid (currently 28p for every £1 in subs)
  • Apply for Equipment Grants
  • Apply for Property grants
  • Apply for Sports grants and bursaries.

Where we have specific 'special' trips or events coming up such as International Camps the Guides will be asked to take part in and run fundraising events such as Body Shop Parties, Race Nights, Sponsored Walks, Swims or Hikes, bag packing, car washes, bring and buy, well dressing and other events to help raise funds towards trips. Any money raised will come off the cost of trips for those who take part in fundraising. (at Leaders discretion)

This year more than ever fundraising is important to us as we will be celebrating our Centenary between 5 September 2009 launch Party  and the Centenary Finale on 20 October 2010 there will be lots of events taking place to allow  Rainbows Brownies and Guides to Celebrate
The Guides will therefore be taking part in a number of fundraising events: -

  • Body Shop party
  • Pampered Chef
  • Quiz Night
  • Sponsored Cycle ride
  • Bag packing at local supermarkets
  • anything else we can think of

We hope that parents will help with fund raising wherever they can, all of which helps keep our costs down and maximise the amount of money we have available for facilities, activities and events.

Financial Assistance

Guiding  is for all girls, regardless of their background. Financial help is available to allow Guides to attend camps who would otherwise be unable to take part. Please contact a leader in the strictest of confidence if we can offer help in any way. She will be able to pass your request on to the Division Commissioner
