Uniform

Guiding is a Uniformed organisation

All Guides must wear uniform to ALL Unit Meetings, when arriving and departing from camps, at flag breaks, and for other events such as Parades, Church, external trips and visits.
When any activities are none Uniform - Leaders will inform Guides of this.
'My Uniform is in the Wash' or 'Does not fit anymore' is not an acceptable excuse for not wearing a uniform.  Guides not wearing a Uniform will be docked points, and repeated offenders will be sent HOME

Girls should take pride in their uniform and do their best to look smart. Our Uniform consists of:

Guide Uniforms Senior Section
and Young Leaders Uniform
Leaders Uniforms
  • Blue Guide Polo Shirt - variations are available
with Red Collar for Girls - Blue Colour for Adults - Turquoise collar for young Leaders
  • Navy Blue - Body warmer (optional) this is often where Guides choose to sew their interest badges
  • Group Neckerchief - Red - the unit has currently elected not to wear a neckerchief
  • Leather Woggle - this would be worn with the neckerchief
  • Navy blue activity trousers  or blue Jeans  (no other colours of trousers are acceptable)
  • Suitable Shoes (no wheels)  - Smart shoes (must be worn on formal occasions )
  • Guide cap - is optional

When girls join Guides we allow them a bedding in period, this is usually four weeks; once settled in we would expect the new Guide to wear Uniform. After 4 to 6 weeks Guides will be asked if they are ready to commit and make their promise.

Guides will not be allowed to enrol without Uniform or G File.  Once enrolled Guides can take part fully in the Guiding programme.
Guides will not be allowed to take part in the Guiding programme, earn Badges, Go For it's, Yearly Challenges, attend Camps and External Activities when not wearing a Uniform.
Uniforms can be purchased from
Hi Peak Leisure in Clough Street Hanley or Guiding Essentials website
