Headquarters |
Scouting and Girlguiding at Stockton Brook takes place in a purpose built headquarters building run by Stockton Brook Scout and Guide Group Council. Meetings take place every night of the week and many on and off site activities also take place at the weekends. | |
| Drop of and Pick up | Because meetings take
place every night we do advertise meeting start times, but not their finish
times. We would ask that parents assist Leaders in ensuring the safety of
their children by not just dropping them off at the HQ either outside or in
the car park. Please always come into the building, in the first
instance to check that the meeting is taking place, to
check that sufficient leaaders and ratio's are present, but also to
allow Leaders time to meet and greet you, chat, pay subs and tell you about
forthcoming and future activities.
When your child comes home, always check their pockets, we often give them information slips, letters and parental consent forms which we realise do not always get given to parents. |
|
| We would ask that when you come to pick up your child you also come into the building. If someone other than you is picking up your child you MUST tell one of the warranted adult leaders this and ensure they make a note of this - at the start of the meeting; this is for your Childs safety not because we wish to check up on you. | ||
| Meeting Start | The advertised start time of meetings is the time that Flag Break will take place, members should get here at least 15 minutes before the advertised start time to ensure meet & greet and any subs can be dealt with before the meeting starts. | |
| Uniform |
We are a uniformed organisation. All members must attend in Uniform. It is acceptable for new members to attend without uniform initially, but they should be wearing uniform within a month. |
|
| Ratios |
Before a Meeting can take place in Guiding and Scouting there must be: - · at least Two Adults present · one of these MUST be a Warranted Leader (Guiding) and Leader, Manager or Supporter (Scouting) · For Guides -- a ratio of 1 to 12 indoors and outdoors and a min of two Leaders · For Brownies – a ratio of 1 to 8 indoors and outdoors and a min of two Leaders · For Rainbows -- a ratio of 1 to 5 indoors and outdoors and a min of two Leaders · For Scouts -- a ratio of 1 to 12 outdoors and min of two Leaders indoors · For Cubs -- a ratio of 1 to 8 outdoors and min of two Leaders indoors · For Beavers -- a ratio of 1 to 6 outdoors and min of two Leaders indoors · There may be specific reduced ratios for adventurous activities – Leaders will check these at the time activities are arranged and advise on Parental consent forms. · Meetings take place in a building where passers by are aware that Children are present and that meeting times are advertised. We ask that all parents come into the building both to drop off and to pick their children up. · Could all parents please tell a warranted Leader if another parent other than the parent who dropped the child off is to pick them up. You must also tell us if another adult/members parent is giving your child a lift home, and ensure that Leaders make a note of this. This is to ensure your child’s safety. |
