Explorer Promise & Law

Promise

Law

As an Explorer you are a member of Scouting, the largest voluntary organisation for Boys and Girl Scouts in this country. It has over 600,000  members.

The underlying values of Scouting are written in the Promise and Law. Explorers are asked to accept this as a list of values before they are invested as members of the Unit.

Explorers make this simple Promise that they share with members around the world.

On my honour,
I promise that I will do my best
to do my duty to God and to the Queen,
to help other people,
and to keep the Scout Law

A Scout is to be trusted.
A Scout is loyal.
A Scout is friendly and considerate.
A Scout belongs to the world-wide family of Scouts.
A Scout has courage in all difficulties.
A Scout makes good use of time and is careful of possessions and property.
A Scout has self-respect and respect for others

  To love my God -
Where in a religion, God has a name which is more commonly used , that name may be substituted;  in order to  make the Promise more meaningful to every member

In such cases the Scouter will discuss the meaning of the Promise with the member.
