Uniform

Scouting is a uniformed organisation.

All Explorers are expected to wear their uniform for unit Meetings, when arriving and departing from camps and for other events such as Parades. Boys and girls should take pride in their uniform and do their best to look smart.

 Our Uniform consists of:

Explorer Uniform Leaders Uniforms
  • Light brown explorer Shirt
Group Neckerchief - Green and Gold - this must be worn on every occasion the uniform is worn
  • Leather Woggle - this would be worn with the neckerchief
  • Navy Blue Scout activity trousers, skirts or shorts  (no other colours of trousers are acceptable)
  • Scout belt
  • Suitable Shoes  - Smart shoes (must be worn on formal occasions )

When members join Scouting, they will be given a Neckerchief and Woggle  which they will carry with them through their life in Scouting. If for any reason this needs replacing then replacements can be purchased via Leaders - the current cost (2009) is £4.00
When members joint he Unit they will be allowed a bedding in period, this is usually four weeks; once settled in we would expect the new member to wear Uniform. After 4 to 6 weeks members will be asked if they are ready to commit and make their promise.

Explorers will not be allowed to enrol without Uniform.  Once enrolled Explorers can take part fully in the Explorers programme.
Explorers will not be allowed to take part in the Scouting programme, earn Badges, Go For it's, Yearly Challenges, attend Camps and External Activities when not wearing a Uniform.
Uniforms can be purchased from
Hi Peak Leisure in Clough Street Hanley or via Scouting website
